A hardware audit and grading platform for a laptop refurb floor. Boot any machine from a USB probe, and it audits itself, grades every part, and lands on the floor's management wall with no re-keying. This page is the story of how it earned its place.

The problem

Grading used hands, eyes, and memory. A technician tested a laptop, judged its condition, and typed the results into a spreadsheet. Every unit passed through that keyboard, and every keystroke was a chance for the grade on the sheet to drift from the machine on the bench. Nobody could see the whole floor at once, and disagreements about a unit's condition came down to whoever spoke with more confidence.

The build

The platform splits the job between a USB probe and a management wall. Boot any laptop from the probe and it audits its own hardware: every part checked, every defect flagged, every grade computed the same way every time. Results travel on their own; by the time the technician racks the machine, it is already on the wall with the rest of the floor.

The result

The floor runs on it daily, and the strongest evidence arrived as a challenge: units were audited twice, by hand and by the platform, 21 paired audits in all. The two disagreed nine times.

The platform was right all nine times.
